About Faith Temple

Pastor Fred Lewis (now Bishop Lewis), began to commute new members from Flint to the church in Saginaw.  There were so many followers that the Lord  moved upon him to open a church in Flint. In 1959, the Hamilton Avenue Church of God in Christ was originated.  Pastor Lewis has a heart for people. He often says, "If you're not doing anything for the souls of humanity, you're not doing a thing!"

Through his ministry many souls have been saved, demons cast out, broken homes mended and many sicknesses, healed.  The Lord blessed, and soon Pastor Lewis began looking for another building to accommodate the growing membership.

The Lord led Pastor Lewis to inquire about the site known as "Devil's Lake."  As he began soliciting information about the site, he found that this, "Devil's Lake" was deemed, good for nothing.  It was considered swamp land.  Contractors in the area attempted to develop it but, no building would stand on it.

Flint City Officials, some church members, and residents in the area were against Elder Lewis' vision.  With the Lord's help, a faithful, praying wife, and a dedicated family, Elder Lewis stood on his faith in God.  He was willing to risk it all for the cause of Christ!"

He said, "Faith without works is dead!"  Because of his unwavering faith, God had given him to name the church "Faith Temple", with the motto:  "faith with works". Positioned 200 feet from the road,  it stands, beautifully landscaped on the wooded, 9-acre  park site. The miraculous, Faith Temple Church of God in Christ was built 26 years ago.

"It is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes!"
